MA in Cultural Studies (Thesis and Non-Thesis)
Cultural Studies is a master’s program designed to bring together joint and interdisciplinary studies in such fields as Turcology, philology, communication, political science and sociology.
The program aims to help graduates gain different perspectives in their approach to such dynamics as identity, ideology, social memory, globalization, nationalism, gender and popular culture, as well as such fields and topics as anthropology, sociology, history and linguistics, aiding them in the development of the necessary skills to address these issues scientifically.
The program offers a wide range of courses, such as "Positive Psychology", "Media Sociology", "Music in the Old Turkish Culture", "Film and Music Language", "Social Linguistics", "Mediatic Language Areas in Turkish Culture", "Eco-cinema", "Utopia and Dystopia", "Turkish Literature in the Soviet-era", "Pre-Islamic Turkish Culture, from Central Asia to Anatolia", "Discourse Analysis" "Semiotics", "Media Sociology" and "Diplomacy in the Old Turks".
Students who wish to continue their careers as researchers and academicians will be able to choose courses and thesis in their areas of interest; while those who opt to specialize in the culture sector or work in government institutions and non-governmental organizations may choose the non-thesis program. It is also possible to start the program with a non-thesis program and then switch to a thesis program.
