From Our Dean
We are passing through a historical period in which we see that the problems being experienced by humanity cannot be resolved by science and technology without the support of solid cultural foundations and ancient values. Our Faculty, in recognition of the importance of humanities, was one of the first to open in our University, with its vision being “to improve awareness of the problems we encounter in the social and cultural dimensions, and to come up with solutions to these problems”. Our Faculty launched its educational activities in the 2018–2019 academic year.
As the name of our main building on the Mustafapaşa Campus – the Oktay Sinanoğlu Facility[CS1] – suggests, we strive to understand the human race and humanity on a global scale, and to tell their story in the light of our national values. Our existing programs – Psychology, Turkish Language and Literature, English Language and Literature and English Translation and Interpreting – stand out among their counterparts in the other universities in our country thanks to their innovative, up-to-date curriculums, and contribute to our Faculty in achieving its goals.
In today’s world, in each and every profession, the precise and effective use of language is the most important skill when it comes to the employment preferences. As such, our priority in our faculty is to ensure that all our graduates have well developed language skills, with programs in English, Arabic, Persian, Russian and Chinese, aside from Turkish.
With full confidence in our well-experienced and well-equipped staff, our Faculty also acknowledges the importance of internationalization, and most prominently, the Erasmus+ program, through which we strive to ensure our students experience education abroad prior to graduation.
We will be happy to see you among us in the Faculty of Humanities.
I wish success and health to you all.
Prof. Dr. Nuran Tezcan
