We are hosting the Slow Food International Council for Turkish Cuisine Week, which will be celebrated from May 21-27, 2025.
As part of the Cappadocia Gastronomy Festival, organized by our university for the fourth time this year, various events are being organized under the main theme of using good, clean, and fair food in classical Turkish cuisine. The Slow Food Cappadocia Earth Market is opening its doors with the participation of members of the Slow Food International Council.
Cappadocia Earth Market Opens!
To support the region's local producers and traditional products, protect biodiversity, and promote access to good, clean, and fair food, the Cappadocia Earth Market will open in Uçhisar on Saturday, May 24, coordinated by the Ministry of Industry and Technology's Social Development Support Program (SOGEP) and the Ahiler Development Agency (AHİKA). It will join Slow Food's international Earth Market network.
The Slow Food Earth Markets Network is established regularly in 23 different countries worldwide, supporting nearly 2,500 producers in 105 markets. The primary goal is to protect local production, biodiversity, and cultural heritage.
The Cappadocia Earth Market is planned to be held every fortnight on Saturdays in Uçhisar. Local producers participating in the market will receive training on topics such as sustainable production, hygiene, branding, and biodiversity as part of the project.
The market aims to contribute to the local economy and support sustainable rural development by connecting regional producers directly with consumers. Click here for more information about the Cappadocia Earth Market.
Slow Food International Council Holds Annual Meeting in Turkey, Hosted by Our University

With this vision, Cappadocia University will not only host the Slow Food International Council Meeting but will also be at the center of a model collaboration that will serve as an example for Turkey in sustainable tourism and local development.
