The first congress in Turkey with the theme “Farming the Future: Ethical Challenges in the Age of AI and Digitalization” will be held in Mustafapaşa in cooperation with EurSafe, the University of Cappadocia (KÜN) and the Association for Agricultural and Food Ethics (TARGET). The congress is also important in that it coincides with the tenth year of the ongoing cooperation between EURSAFE and TARGET in the field of agricultural and food ethics.

EurSafe, which addresses ethical issues arising in agriculture and food systems on an international and interdisciplinary basis, bringing together academics and researchers from different fields in a collaborative discussion environment, will continue these discussions with the 2026 congress through artificial intelligence and digital technologies that are rapidly transforming agriculture and food systems.

At EurSafe 2026, where Prof. Dr. Hilal Elver, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Koç, Dr. Burçin Çokuysal and Dr. Mark Ryan are among the guests, the effects of artificial intelligence and digitalization on agricultural and food systems will be evaluated in the framework of the ethical, social and environmental problems it brings with it. In this context, issues such as data use and management, human control in technological decision processes, equality in access and environmental impacts will be among the prominent discussion areas of the congress.

The congress will address topics such as digital and sensitive agriculture, artificial intelligence and data governance, sustainable food systems, water management, climate change, biodiversity, alternative proteins, livestock and aquaculture, animal welfare, environmental justice and ethical consumption. The impact of technological transformation on sustainability, resource use, food security, the environment and animal health and welfare will also be among the main discussion areas of the congress.

In the organization of EurSafe 2026 at the University of Cappadocia, the strong link between the agenda of the congress and the University's academic work in the fields of environment, sustainability, food and gastronomy also stands out. The studies carried out in different academic units, especially the Environmental Humanities Application and Research Center, support the interdisciplinary structure of the congress.
