The increasing interest in Karamanlidika inscriptions in Cappadocia and texts from the Ottoman period outside the Arabic alphabet has brought the importance of academic studies in this field back to the forefront.
The discovery of numerous Karamanlidika inscriptions in the Cappadocia region, where our university is located, and the recent surge in interest in works written in alphabets other than the Arabic alphabet during the Ottoman period, have once again highlighted the importance of academic research in this field.
In this context, the "Congress on Turkish Texts Written in the Latin, Greek, and Armenian Alphabets During the Ottoman Period," hosted by our university on June 19–20, 2025, was held with the participation of expert academics in the field. Academic papers on Turkish grammar, lexicon, literary, and religious works written in the Latin, Greek, and Armenian alphabets in the Ottoman lands from the 15th to the 20th centuries were presented at the congress.
The congress, which was contributed by many researchers with significant work in their fields, was followed with interest by the participants. In the closing session, a comprehensive assessment of new studies and publications on the subject was made in light of the presentations, and a roadmap for the future was outlined.
As Cappadocia University, we will continue to host events that contribute to the scientific world, drawing on the rich historical and cultural heritage of the region.
