CAPPADOCIA UNIVERSITY

Our University's Faculty Structure That Shapes the Future

17.05.2025

Establishing two new faculties with the Presidential Decree dated May 15, 2025, KÜN is implementing its mission to train public opinion leaders of the 21st century.

Our university transitioned to two new faculties with Presidential Decree No. 9818, dated May 15, 2025. This decision doesn't just change the names; it directly puts into practice our mission of "raising a new generation of public leaders who will make Turkey a leader in the 21st century."

Faculty of Computer and Information Technologies: Digital Sovereignty Initiative

The Information Systems and Technologies, Information Security Technology, Software Development, and Management Information Systems programs are now housed under a single roof at this faculty. The Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning undergraduate program will also accept students for the first time in the 2025-2026 academic year. This will enable us to:

•             Provide competent human resources for the national cybersecurity and artificial intelligence ecosystem; Accelerating the values of “innovation, scientific originality, and global competitiveness,”

•             Bringing together students, industrial partners, and venture capital funds in the same ecosystem through the Cappadocia AI Hub; We will more easily achieve our goals, such as ensuring that graduates are employed in the sector within three months, and integrating our University's principles of "environmental awareness" and "responsibility" into technology by developing projects aligned with the UN SDGs (smart agriculture, sustainable tourism, etc.).

Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences: Incubating Opinion Leaders

English Language and Literature, Psychology, English Translation and Interpreting, Turkish Language and Literature, Political Science and International Relations, and Political Science and Public Administration are now under one roof.

This integration will:

•             Prepare graduates for opinion-shaping roles in the media, diplomacy, and civil society by combining multilingual expression and critical thinking skills.

•           One of the University's values It will directly contribute to "participation, social awareness, and cultural diversity."

•             It will introduce students to real social problems early on through field projects to be conducted in the Cappadocia region; thus, the principle of regional sensitivity will intersect theory and practice.

Message from Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar
Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar, who made a statement about our new faculty structures and expressed his hope that they would be beneficial to our University, said, "This move is not just about changing faculty signs; it is the will to rewrite the thousands of years of cultural heritage of our nation and region in the digital language of the future. We are combining our students' analytical minds with social sensitivity, and artificial intelligence expertise with an ethical perspective."

Master-Apprentice and SOBE Philosophy in Education

Both faculties will structure their course designs according to the university's unique model, which "supports the master-apprentice relationship with modern pedagogy." In this way, students will take responsibility for real projects alongside faculty members from their first year; classroom knowledge will be transferred directly to industry, the laboratory, and the field.

Why is it important?

•             Trusted voices for the public: Interdisciplinary language, psychology, and politics education will bridge Turkey's need for opinion leaders by building a culture of critical yet constructive debate.

•             Digital sovereignty & economic value: Graduates with artificial intelligence and cybersecurity expertise aim to be the first choice of both domestic technology companies and global R&D centers.

•           Regional development: Cappadocia's tourism, cultural heritage, and smart city projects will transform into research-application laboratories for students.

•           Sustainable future: UN SDGs will be mandatory modules in new inter-faculty joint courses; The campus's carbon footprint will be reduced by 25% by 2028.

•             Universal yet national: The national education approach, which is universal yet practical, is uncompromised; cultural self-confidence goes hand in hand with global competitiveness.

Our university's new faculty structure brings together people, society, and technology, meeting two of the most critical needs of the next decade—opinion leadership and digital competence—in a single move. This strategic arrangement, in line with the university's institutional values, brings a new dimension to Turkey's higher education scene and a tangible development impetus to the region.
