05.09.2025

Our university has added a new one to its pioneering efforts to preserve cultural heritage and promote it internationally.

Organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and with the support of Vakıf Katılım, the "Composed Mawlid Mercy Night" programs were held in Plovdiv on September 2nd and in Varna on September 3rd. Süleyman Çelebi's work "Vesîletü'n-Necât," which was included in UNESCO's 2022 year of commemoration and celebration, has once again resonated in the Balkans thanks to the initiatives of our University and the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. These events have been recognized as a significant step in promoting cultural heritage internationally and passing it on to future generations.

In both programs, a 1956 composition by Hâfız Kemal Batanay based on Süleyman Çelebi's work "Vesîletü'n-Necât" was performed. Additionally, the audience was taken on a journey filled with art and culture through documentary screenings about the lives of Süleyman Çelebi and Hâfız Kemal Batanay.

Our University was represented by our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İlhan Öztürk emphasized that Mevlid has been a symbol of unity and solidarity, uniting our society in times of joy, sorrow, and sadness for centuries. He emphasized that Süleyman Çelebi's work, Vesîletü'n-Necât, is not only a literary text but also one of the most powerful symbols of our cultural and spiritual identity. Öztürk stated that Cappadocia University will continue to champion such important projects with its vision that embraces the future while preserving its roots. He concluded by saying, "We continue our journey with the principles of 'Reason, Morality, Justice, and Etiquette,' as outlined by our professor and the founder of our university, Alev Alatlı. We will continue to contribute to both Turkey and our heartland through international collaborations and cultural projects. I would like to thank the General Directorate of Fine Arts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the artists, all the individuals and institutions involved in the organization, and Vakıf Katılım for their support." Following the performance of the Mevlid, a plaque was presented to our Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İlhan Öztürk by Burgas First Class Consul General Tolga Orkun.
