A new Tourism Master Plan, a project undertaken by our university nationwide, has been launched for Mardin. The Mardin Tourism Master Plan Workshop, which aims to develop a roadmap that will shape the city's tourism potential, was held on August 20, 2025, in partnership with the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality and the Mardin Governorate.
Another Tourism Master Plan study, conducted by our university nationwide, has been implemented for Mardin. The Mardin Tourism Master Plan Workshop, which aims to develop a roadmap that will shape the city's tourism potential, was held jointly with the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality and the Mardin Governorate on August 20, 2025.
The workshop was attended by Mardin Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Ayhan Gök, Mardin Deputy Governor Hasan Kurt, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar, Prof. Dr. Bilgehan Gülcan, and numerous institutional representatives, industry stakeholders, and academics. The Mardin Tourism Master Plan, prepared by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil Burak Sakal, was presented on behalf of our university.
The tourism master plan studies conducted by our university in various provinces offer a strategic roadmap for Mardin that will shape the region's tourism vision. Cappadocia University, distinguished by its academic competence and institutional experience, collaborates with all stakeholders in this process to help the city achieve its deserved position in tourism.
The workshop, which discussed what needs to be done to develop Mardin's tourism potential and make the city more visible on a national and international scale, explored Cappadocia University's academic expertise and the strong collaboration it has established with stakeholders. Through an interactive search conference and thematic table sessions, the city's strengths and weaknesses, opportunities, and areas for development were evaluated with the feedback of the participants. Solution-focused recommendations were developed in the areas of intangible cultural heritage, transportation, travel and accommodation, gastronomy, events and festivals, promotion, media and marketing, and faith and historical tourism.
