Educational Objectives and Goals of the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program

 

Program Educational Objectives (PEO)

PEO-1: To train medical laboratory technicians capable of performing medical analyses required for patient care in clinical laboratories within primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare institutions (such as family health centers, hospitals, etc.).

PEO-2: To educate technicians who are proficient in operating laboratory equipment and devices in clinical and research laboratories, performing calibration and control procedures, and maintaining these devices.

PEO-3: To cultivate medical laboratory technicians who adhere to professional ethical standards, are capable of effective teamwork, and possess strong communication skills.

PEO-4: To raise a new generation of public health professionals who are technologically literate, follow scientific methods and technological advancements in their field, and are trained with a national approach based on universal practices.

 

Program Learning Goals

  1. To provide students with fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to the MLT program through compulsory and elective courses,
  2. To enable students to acquire hands-on professional skills in laboratory environments related to their field of study,
  3. To develop students’ ability to apply professional knowledge effectively in real-world settings through field practices and internships,
  4. To equip the program's application laboratory inventory with the latest technological devices and instruments used in the field, and to train graduates in competent use and maintenance of this equipment,
  5. To instill in students the ability to act in accordance with professional ethical principles,
  6. To improve students’ ability to communicate effectively with patients, patient relatives, and colleagues,
  7. To foster students' abilities to collaborate with other professions in their field and take responsibility as part of a team,
  8. To cultivate students who follow scientific methods and technological advancements and embrace lifelong learning,
  9. To train technicians who are proficient in information technologies and can effectively use automation systems in their field,
  10. To educate competent healthcare professionals in the field of medical laboratory techniques who are aware of their social and community responsibilities.

These constitute the educational goals of the Medical Laboratory Techniques Program at Cappadocia University.
