The 19th congress of EurSafe, an international academic platform based in Europe that addresses ethical issues in the field of agriculture and food with an interdisciplinary approach, is being held in our country this year.

Our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar, Mayor of Ürgüp Ali Ertuğrul Bul, Mayor of Nevşehir Asst. Ahmet Çöler, Chairman of TARGET Board Prof. Dr. Cemal Taluğ, President of the European Association of Agricultural and Food Ethics (EurSafe) Franck L.B. Meijboom and researchers from different disciplines participated in the Congress. they were made.

Stressing that the EurSafe Congress was held for the first time in Turkey and the preference of Cappadocia for this important meeting has a special meaning for our University, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar began his speech by expressing his satisfaction to welcome the participants. Karasar stressed that agriculture is never just about production, but also part of the relationship we establish with the place where we live, with the soil, air and water, saying, “As the University of Cappadocia, our approach to sustainability fully coincides with this. “We don't see sustainability as an area of a single discipline or a fashionable concept of today's world,” he said.

Cappadocia Hosts International Academic Meetings

Urgup Mayor Ali Ertugrul Bul recalled that the region receives about 4.4—5 million visitors every year and expressed his satisfaction to see the congress participants in Cappadocia. TARGET Celebrates 10th Anniversary with EurSafe 2026

TARGET Chairman Prof. Dr. Cemal Taluğ stated that this year the association celebrated its 10th anniversary and referred to the work they have carried out in the field of agriculture and food ethics in the past period. Taluğ said: “Over the past decade, we have strived to raise awareness and sensitivity about agriculture and food ethics in our country, and to contribute to both national and global knowledge in this area. In this context, we have organized numerous educational and research activities, scientific meetings and public campaigns, and published publications.”

Meljboom: It's great to be at the University of Cappadocia

The President of EurSafe, Franck L.B. Meijboom, also expressed his satisfaction at holding the 19th of EurSafe's congresses in Cappadocia for more than 25 years. Meijboom said: “This congress has special meaning for us because we have never held a congress in Turkey before. It is wonderful to be at the University of Cappadocia, and one of the most important reasons for this is the amazing surroundings and the wonderful facilities of the university,” he said.
