Our 20th Graduation Pride: Our Graduates of Shed Kusanan Were Promised for the Future

At our 20th graduation ceremony, we are proud to welcome our graduates who have been sworn in for the future.

In the two-day graduation ceremonies, 2,424 students from a total of 42 departments/programs at associate, undergraduate and graduate level will experience the joy of graduation. Our graduates will complete this meaningful phase of their educational journey through the traditional ceremony of the Shed Adoration, which our University has maintained since its first graduation.

The ceremony was attended by Nevşehir Deputy Governor Mücahit Öztürk, Ürgüp Kaymakamı Ömer Coşkun, Mayor of Ürgüp Ali Ertuğrul Bul, our Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar, Mustafapaşa Mayor Mustafa Özer, Nevşehir Bar Association President Av. Necmi Özül, Nevşehir Environment, Urbanism and Climate Change Provincial Manager Yasemin Demirörs, Nevşehir Provincial Director of Culture and Tourism Gökhan Maskar, Nevşehir Provincial Director of National Education Yusuf Yazıcı, Nevşehir Provincial Registrar Sezer Sarı, Urgüp Chamber of Artisans and Artisans Osman Şenkaya, President of Nevşehir Journalists Association Bayram Ekici, NEVU Vice Rector Bayram Deviren, our Chairman of the Board of Trustees Funda F. Aktan, our academics, alumni and families attended.

At the ceremony, which began in a meaningful atmosphere that perpetuates the memory of our founder, Alev Alatlı, the graduation tradition and founding vision of our University met once again with our graduates.

Ürgüp Kaymakamı Ömer Coşkun stated that Cappadocia University is an outstanding higher education institution based on the historical and cultural richness of the Cappadocia region. Encouraging our graduates to act with knowledge, conscience and sense of responsibility, Coşkun wished success in their subsequent journeys.

The Mayor of Urgup, Ali Ertuğrul Bul, stressed the value that the University of Cappadocia has brought to Ürgüp and the region. Bul, who together with the graduates of our university carries the name of Ürgüp to different parts of Turkey and the world, said that our graduates will be volunteer representatives for Urgüp and Cappadocia wherever they go.

Our Prof. Dr. Hasan Ali Karasar stressed that graduation is not just a diploma ceremony, but the beginning of a new responsibility that will guide the future of the country. In his speech, Karasar referred to the idea of “repair” by the founder of the university, Alev Alatlı, stated that today's world needs not only new technologies, but “repairers” who will rebuild trust, morality, kindness and human relations. Karasar summed up the educational concept of the University of Cappadocia with the principle “the starting point is universal, the practice is national”, stated that the graduates were raised as individuals open to universal knowledge, but adhered to their own values of civilization.

In his speech, Karasar called on the graduates to adopt the principles of Reason, Morality, Justice and Adap, which are the core values of the University, as a guide throughout their lives, and said that the diploma is not a destination, but the beginning of a lifelong learning journey. Emphasizing that the traditional shed beatification ceremony is not only a graduation ritual, but a well-established civilization heritage that symbolizes righteousness, responsibility and professional ethics, Karasar concluded his speech with a prayer inspired by the Dede Korkut tradition, thanking the graduates, their families and scholars; the youth for their knowledge and wisdom for humanity. invited to convert to service. Funda F. Aktan, Our Chairman of the Board of Trustees, congratulated our alumni, families and academics, noting that they were proud to meet at the 20th graduation ceremony. Aktan stated that our university reached more than 20,000 graduates with this year's graduates and said that this success was possible with the sacrifice of our families and the work of our teachers as well as the efforts of our students.

Stating that our graduates have stepped into a world that is rapidly changing and shaped by uncertainties, Aktan stressed that many developments, from artificial intelligence to disinformation, from the climate crisis to wars, from migration to economic fragility, are transforming human life, stressing that the main need in this age is the power to ask the right questions, not ready answers.

Aktan, who stated that the concepts of “Reason, Morality, Justice and Justice”, which are the founding principles of our university, are a powerful compass for our graduates, that reason is to reason, to be able to do what is right when morality is not seen by anyone, to observe justice not only for oneself but also for others, while manners break the truth without hurting and when it is right He expressed that he meant to be able to say without pouring. Aktan invited our graduates to continue their ties with the University of Cappadocia family, noting that graduation is not the end of the bond with our University, but a new stage of a lifelong relationship.

After the speeches, our graduates who entered the degree were presented with their plaques. Our graduates completed this important stage of their educational journey with the traditional ceremony of our University's blessing ceremony in accordance with a meaningful tradition.

The 20th graduation ceremonies of our university will continue for two days with the participation of our alumni, families and academics.
