The University of Cappadocia ranked 343rd among universities worldwide in the 2016 UI GreenMetric Sustainable Universities Rankings 2026 results, ranking in the top 17 percent bracket.
The University of Cappadocia achieved the highest UI GreenMetric score to date with a total score of 7647.5 in the ranking, covering the sustainability performance of universities through building and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transport, education and research, as well as governance and digitalization, which was included for the first time in 2026. Our university's world ranking success rate rose to 82.99 percent, reaching the highest level recorded since 2019.
Worldwide participation in UI Greenmetric increased significantly in 2026, reaching 2,016 universities. With this increase, the University of Cappadocia ranked in the top 17 percent worldwide. Our university's world ranking success rate, which stood at 49.74 percent in 2019, reached 82.99 percent in 2026, increasing by 33.25 percentage points over an eight-year period. Our university has achieved the highest success rate in the world ranking since the year it first joined UI Greenmetric.
In the overall assessment of Turkey, the University of Cappadocia ranked 35th out of 152 universities, while the Turkish ranking increased its success rate to 76.97 percent. This rate was the highest level of success achieved by our University throughout Turkey during the period of participation in UI Greenmetric.
Among foundation universities in Turkey, the University of Cappadocia ranked 8th among 42 universities. While the success rate of foundation universities ranking was 80.95 percent, our University maintained its strong position in this field. Thus, in 2026, the success rates in all rankings of the world, Turkey and foundation universities reached over 75 percent.
The improvement in the overall UI GreenMetric score of the University of Cappadocia also revealed its long-term sustainability performance. The total score, which was 4975 in 2019, when the first participation took place, reached 7647.5 in 2026. Thus, while the total score increased by about 53.7 percent over the eight-year period, 2026 was the year in which our University achieved its highest total score to date.
In the evaluation by category, our University achieved 1475 points in Waste, 1400 in Energy and Climate Change, 1337.5 in Transport, 1000 in Education and Research, 825 in Water and 660 in Building and Infrastructure. The 825 points achieved especially in the Water category was the highest score achieved by our University in this field to date.
One of the key innovations of the 2026 UI GreenMetric evaluation was the inclusion of the Governance and Digitalization category in the ranking for the first time. The University of Cappadocia took the 5th place among 42 foundation universities, receiving 950 points out of 1100 total points in this new category. The result obtained in this field, which was evaluated for the first time, also revealed the contribution of our University's corporate governance and digitalization studies to the sustainability performance.
Our university continues its work in the field of sustainability with an approach that addresses campus practices, resource management, climate action, education and research, as well as corporate governance. The 2026 UI GreenMetric results show that our University continues to evolve in this area with increasing overall scores and success rates over the years.
