Educational Objectives and Goals of the Pathology Laboratory Techniques Program
Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)
PEO-1: To train technicians who can perform their profession using both traditional and modern methods, and who can develop evidence-based solutions to problems they encounter.
PEO-2: To train technicians who can effectively use their basic knowledge and skills, are team-oriented, and possess strong communication abilities.
PEO-3: To train pathology laboratory technicians who act in accordance with professional ethical standards.
PEO-4: To cultivate a new generation of public opinion leaders who follow scientific and technological advancements in their field and are proficient in information technologies.
Program Learning Goals
1- To equip students with the ability to effectively use materials and devices found in pathology laboratories,
2- To educate pathology laboratory technicians who are well-prepared both theoretically and practically in the fields of immunohistochemistry, histotechnology, cytotechnology, and molecular pathology,
3- To train technicians who can perform all necessary procedures from the collection of organs, tissues, or body fluids from a patient up to the stage of microscopic examination,
4- To develop the ability to adapt to interdisciplinary teamwork within pathology laboratories,
5- To instill the ability to act in accordance with professional ethical principles,
6- To develop effective communication skills with patients, their relatives, physicians, and other healthcare professionals,
7- To raise awareness of following scientific and technological developments in the field,
8- To provide the ability to work in accordance with quality assurance systems in pathology laboratory services,
9- To raise awareness about occupational risks that may be encountered in laboratory operations,
10- To train competent healthcare professionals in the field of pathology laboratory techniques who possess a sense of social and community responsibility.
