The Pathology Laboratory Techniques Program trains healthcare personnel who perform microscopic examinations of tissues and body fluids. In this field, where the latest technology and techniques are used in the diagnosis of diseases, fully equipped pathology laboratory technicians hold an important role.
Students enrolled in the Pathology Laboratory Techniques Program at Cappadocia Vocational School learn laboratory procedures both in school laboratory courses and during hospital internships throughout their associate degree education. This practice-oriented training ensures that students stand out in the sector with their knowledge and experience.
Graduates of the Pathology Laboratory Techniques Program work primarily with tissues. For example, they examine tissue, organ, or fluid samples, saliva, etc., taken from the human body with the naked eye or using devices such as microscopes to detect signs of disease. Graduates working as health technicians in pathology laboratories of various healthcare institutions prepare water baths for sectioning, track tissues, examine samples taken from the human body, block tissues with different characteristics for sectioning, stain the sections obtained from tissue blocks, analyze tissue samples under a microscope, separate normal and abnormal cells, report experiment, test, and analysis results, disinfect laboratory instruments and devices, perform regular maintenance, and maintain slide and block archives.
Pathology laboratory technicians can work in university, state, and private hospital pathology laboratories, private pathology labs, histology laboratories of medical faculties, molecular pathology laboratories, and forensic pathology laboratories.
The program includes professional courses such as Pathology Practices, Immunohistochemistry, Macroscopic Dissection, Molecular Pathology Techniques, Histotechnology, and Histology, which are taught both theoretically and practically.
