Born in Istanbul in 1970, Funda Firuz Aktan graduated from Galatasaray High School in 1989 and from Boğaziçi University, Department of Economics, in 1994.
She began her professional career in 1994 as a financial auditor at Price Waterhouse Coopers and continued with experience as an investment analyst and senior executive in various companies within the finance sector. Between 2007 and 2017, she served as the founding director of Cappadocia Vocational College. With the establishment of Cappadocia University in 2017, she assumed the roles of Coordinator of the Board of Trustees, Secretary General, and Director of the Continuing Education Center.
As a certified public accountant and financial advisor, Aktan has also served as Chairperson of the Ballooning Commission formed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation—which played a significant role in the development of hot air ballooning activities in Türkiye—and as a member of the Higher Education Vocational and Technical Education Working Group.
Married and a mother of two children, Aktan was appointed as Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Cappadocia University on February 22, 2024.
