Psychology is the scientific field that studies human behaviors, the mental processes behind these behaviors, and their causes. For this purpose, it examines not only individual characteristics such as cognitive processes, biological factors, developmental stage features, and abnormal behaviors, but also social factors such as culture, education, and the influence of the era. These topics also constitute the subfields of psychology. In addition to its wide range of subfields, psychology interacts with all other scientific disciplines, encompassing interdisciplinary studies. In our increasingly complex lives accelerated by technological developments, the importance and application areas of psychology continue to grow.

Why Should I Study Psychology at Cappadocia University?

The Psychology Department at Cappadocia University aims to maximize students' potential both academically and practically, with its competent education program and clinical and cognitive laboratories. During their academic journey, students have the opportunity to develop themselves through seminars, events, and practices conducted by experts in the field. Additionally, they can conduct research and internships in areas such as Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, Educational Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Social Psychology. With the variety of offered applications, students gain field experience, acquiring strong skills in developing their professional identity. Students are also supported in activities outside the education program, such as project applications and participation in conferences. Students graduating from the Department of Psychology are entitled to receive a Bachelor's degree in Psychology (Bachelor of Arts).

What Do Psychology Graduates Do? What Are the Job Opportunities?

Psychology graduates can work in ministries and affiliated institutions and organizations. They have employment opportunities in daycare centers, kindergartens, preschools, and special education centers. Additionally, graduates can work in student counseling and career planning centers of schools and universities, guidance-psychological counseling centers, public and private hospitals, nursing homes, advertising and public relations, industry and manufacturing organizations, human resources units (private or public), social service institutions, and research centers, among many other fields.

The Psychology Undergraduate Program provides students with an understanding of different subfields of psychology through compulsory courses, practice, and elective courses. When creating course programs, domestic and international university psychology programs are considered.

Psychology students take compulsory courses such as Psychology, Physiological Psychology, Personality Psychology, Social Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Educational Psychology, Psychopathology, Experimental Psychology, Ethics in Psychology, Psychological Testing, Neuropsychology, Statistics in Psychology, Research Methods in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Social Anthropology, Basic Mathematics, History of Turkish Democracy, English, and Graduation Project, along with elective courses from other disciplines.

Students accepted into the double major program complete a second bachelor's degree simultaneously with their main program and earn two separate diplomas. This allows them to combine their expertise in nutrition and dietetics with competencies in their chosen second field, gaining a strong advantage in both clinical and multidisciplinary health and food sectors.

Minor programs allow students to gain basic knowledge and skills in a second discipline while focusing on their main major. Students successfully completing the program graduate with a minor certificate.


FEDEK Accreditation

The Psychology Undergraduate Program has been accredited for two years by FEDEK, an organization authorized by the Turkish Higher Education Council (YÖK), effective from May 2, 2024.
