The Operating Room Services Program trains auxiliary surgical health personnel who can prepare all surgical materials used in the operating room, assist during surgeries, directly participate in all surgical teams, and work in operating rooms, surgical intensive care units, and sterilization units. Students who successfully complete the program are awarded an associate degree and the title “Operating Room Technician.”
Applied education is provided in Cappadocia Vocational School’s Operating Room Services Program. Training takes place in practical classrooms as well as in intensive care units and operating rooms of affiliated healthcare institutions in the region. Graduates gain professional qualifications and are employed as preferred personnel in the workforce.
Graduates work in public and private hospitals.
An operating room technician is appointed to university hospitals or Ministry of Health hospitals based on KPSS scores. They can work in private hospitals by applying individually, according to the institution's own evaluation criteria.
In addition to general education courses, the curriculum includes surgical diseases knowledge (for three semesters), Operating Room Practices (practical training in hospitals and lab-supported), Operating Room Technology (for two semesters), anatomy, physiology, microbiology, basic professional techniques (laboratory-based practice), and biomedical devices courses. Hands-on training is also provided in our laboratory simulating an operating room environment.
Students in the Operating Room Services Program have the opportunity to pursue double majors in First Aid and Emergency, Dialysis, and Anesthesia programs.
