What is the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program? Why Should I Study It?

Dental Prosthetic Technicians are healthcare professionals who carry out all stages of producing dental and jaw prostheses under the guidance of dentists. As valuable members of the oral and dental health team working in laboratories, Dental Prosthetic Technicians prepare "models" from the oral impressions taken by dentists, shape the prostheses, replicate them using casting methods, and make them suitable for use in the mouth. Dental Prosthetics Technology is considered a profession where technology meets art.

Why Should I Study the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program at Kapadokya University?

Kapadokya University Vocational School's Dental Prosthetics Technology Program has a fully equipped training laboratory with its devices and equipment. Students follow demonstrative applications simultaneously via a video system during the class. Since practical applications are performed one-on-one under the guidance of senior technicians assisting the instructors, the quality and efficiency of the education are very high.

What Do Graduates of the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program Do? What Are the Job Opportunities?

Each patient's needs are different, and every solution must be tailored to the patient. The work of dental prosthetic technicians is both diverse and comprehensive, requiring manual skills as well as an aesthetic perspective. Ensuring that prostheses are functional while also looking aesthetically pleasing is the responsibility of dental prosthetic technicians. Graduates of the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program can work in private dental prosthetic laboratories, be appointed in the public sector under the title of "technician," or open their own laboratories.

What Courses Are in the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program?

In the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program, courses such as Fixed Prostheses, Removable Prostheses, and Porcelain Prostheses are offered as practical courses, while courses like Jaw and Facial Prostheses, Implant-Supported Prostheses, and Material Science provide the foundational knowledge for the program.

Double Major (ÇAP) and Minor Opportunities in the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program

Students in the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program can benefit from the double major (ÇAP) opportunity, which allows them to expand their laboratory and clinical skills and enrich their career prospects.

Program Available for Double Major

  • Oral and Dental Health

Students accepted into the double major program can complete the Oral and Dental Health associate program simultaneously with their main program in Dental Prosthetics Technology and are entitled to receive two separate diplomas. This allows them to combine prosthesis design and production expertise with clinical oral-dental knowledge, giving them a strong competitive advantage in laboratories, clinics, and dental treatment centers.

Minor Opportunities

Note: There is no minor program defined for the Dental Prosthetics Technology Program.

This double major opportunity helps our students stand out in the dynamic oral-dental health sector by improving their precise prosthesis design, patient communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
