What is the Anesthesia Program? Why Should I Study It?

The Anesthesia Program aims to train auxiliary technical personnel needed in anesthesia applications. During the two-year education, students learn theoretical and practical applications in anesthesia, intensive care, and pain units; gain technical knowledge about the devices used in anesthesia and intensive care units; and acquire experience in cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Anesthesia technicians are responsible for applying the medical methods required to sedate patients during surgeries under the guidance of physicians.

What Do Graduates of the Anesthesia Program Do? Career Opportunities

In the last ten years, the number of hospitals in Turkey increased by 26%; with this growth, anesthesia technicians who take major responsibilities in operating rooms have become highly sought-after personnel in both public and private sectors.

Graduates can work in operating rooms, emergency rooms, intensive care units, and pain clinics in state, university, and private hospitals; operating rooms and emergency units in private medical centers; in vitro fertilization centers; recovery rooms; intensive care units; respiratory therapy units; medical centers; and any healthcare facility authorized for surgical interventions.

What Courses Are in the Anesthesia Program?

In the first and second semesters, students take physiology, microbiology, medical terminology, Turkish language, English, Basic Information Technologies, Atatürk’s Principles and History of Turkish Reforms, Sterilization and Disinfection, and Health Management courses. In the first semester, they take Basic Professional Techniques, followed by Anesthesia Practices and Advanced Anesthesia Practices in subsequent semesters. Clinical Anesthesia and Resuscitation, Systemic Diseases, and Infectious Diseases courses are also included.
