The List of the World's Most Influential Scientists, published annually by Elsevier, was updated in August 2025. This year, academics from our university achieved significant success on an international scale by ranking in the top 2%.
Based on the published results, the database evaluated researchers' academic success metrics, such as citation counts, h-index, and hm-index, according to standard criteria. Data from careers and the year 2024 were evaluated, and scientists were ranked according to their activities.
Prof. Dr. Candan Gökçeoğlu, from the Faculty of Computer and Information Technologies, has authored 226 scientific publications since 1996. Her work has received over 12,000 citations, and her h-index has reached 58. Ranked 33,974th globally across all fields, Prof. Dr. Gökçeoğlu is also ranked among leading academics in Turkey, ranking between 151st and 157th in the sub-scientific field of geology and geomatics. She has also maintained her top ranking in Turkey in the field of geology and geomatics.
Prof. Dr. Candan Gökçeoğlu, from the Department of English Language and Literature, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Serpil Gülsüm Oppermann has authored more than 150 scientific publications since 1998. Citations exceeding 8,000 have earned her a ranking of 45,612th globally. She has also achieved a high ranking in English Language and Literature, making her one of Turkey's leading academics.
Prof. Dr. Baki Hazer, from the Department of Airframe and Engine Maintenance at the School of Applied Sciences, also achieved remarkable success on the list. Hazer, who has published 225 scientific publications since 1985, has received 3,888 citations to date and has an h-index of 32. Ranked 120,223rd globally, Prof. Dr. Hazer has distinguished herself with her research in polymers, food science, and chemistry. She has achieved a particularly prestigious international position, reaching 589th place in the field of polymers.
